Latitude triage priority is not expedited-review status
Latitude Health describes configurable triage rules and AI-powered prioritization for utilization-management intake. A queue priority can direct work, but an expedited-review status needs its own request-specific facts, governing rule, received time, authorized determination, clock, notice, and reclassification history.

Keep work priority separate from review urgency
The direct answer is to maintain two different fields. A triage priority determines how work is ordered or routed inside an operating queue. Expedited-review status is a governed classification for a specific request under the applicable benefit, contract, policy, law, or accreditation context. Latitude's official page describes configurable triage rules and AI-powered prioritization; it does not establish that the resulting rank makes or replaces an authorized urgency determination. [1]
The request record should preserve member and request identifiers, service, payer and product, received date and time, source channel, clinical and administrative completeness, urgency request and rationale, governing rule and version, authorized reviewer, determination, effective clock, due time, queue priority, routing reason, exception, and notice. If priority and urgency differ, retain both and explain why rather than forcing one field to serve two decisions.
Make the triage rule reproducible
Configurable rules need version and effective-time evidence. For each prioritization, retain the input facts available at the time, rule or model version, matched condition, score or category where used, source data, missing fields, execution time, resulting queue, confidence or exception where applicable, and human review. A link to today's configuration cannot explain why a request was routed differently last week.
Test contradictory cases: a clinically urgent request with incomplete administrative data, a routine request nearing its deadline, a provider-marked expedited request that does not meet the applicable definition, a status change after new facts arrive, and a duplicate submission carrying different urgency indicators. The system should surface conflicts without letting a high automation or queue score silently shorten, extend, start, or stop the controlling clock.
Reconcile intake, queue, and notice times
Latitude says its technology supports existing workflows and integrates with legacy systems. A buyer should test the handoff from intake to the authoritative utilization-management record: original received timestamp, normalized request identity, triage event, queue assignment, urgency determination, reviewer action, decision, outbound notice, delivery or acknowledgement, and later correction. Preserve source and destination IDs, time zones, rejected writes, retries, duplicates, and reconciliation owner. [1]
A work item can be prioritized quickly while the authoritative case is created late, or an urgency change can reach the queue without reaching the notice process. Measure each event separately. Queue age, determination turnaround, notice timing, and end-to-end elapsed time have different start and stop rules. A provider claim about automation does not define the plan's metric, prove compliance, or show that the member or provider received the intended communication.
Keep clinical and regulatory authority with the named owner
The official Latitude page establishes current provider positioning for intake, triage, clinical review, performance insights, and integration. It does not establish a configured payer rule, clinical accuracy, qualified-review process, benefit interpretation, expedited-review decision, regulatory compliance, timing performance, or patient outcome. Those conclusions require the applicable authority, plan documents, clinical facts, configured workflow, transaction evidence, and accountable human review. [1]
A defensible acceptance test records what the technology recommends or routes, what an authorized person or rule determines, how the governing clock is calculated, which notice is produced, and how exceptions are corrected. Reopen the assessment when the urgency definition, benefit, rule, model, integration, queue design, delegation, or notice workflow changes. The useful buyer boundary is precise: automation may prioritize work; it does not inherit the authority of the expedited-review determination.
Enterprise buyer test
Translate this change into the exact population, record type, workflow stage, decision owner, effective date, and evidence that could be affected. Ask current or prospective providers to demonstrate the named workflow with representative data and an exception—not a polished feature tour. Record what official documentation establishes, what a provider states, what the team observes, and what remains unresolved.
A defensible review also identifies the dependency outside the product. Authority interpretation, policy configuration, data quality, integrations, human judgment, approval rights, release governance, training, and retained evidence may remain customer or service responsibilities. The evaluation should preserve those boundaries instead of treating a technology claim as the complete operating model.
What we will watch next
Prior Auth Monitor will watch the named source and affected market records for later evidence that changes status, scope, availability, implementation timing, workflow consequence, or the limits of the initial report. A later announcement does not silently overwrite this dated account; the change ledger preserves the sequence.
